Music Festival in the Park

My mom works for LA Supervisor Antonovich and every summer he puts on a music festival at Bonelli Park. This year the acts were from way before my time (Pat Boone & Chubby Checker), but I have to admit, they've still got it. My kids thought they were awesome and there was a legion of "mature" women fans shaking it in the front row. I'm not sure which Eli laughed at more! It was hysterical.

Well... Thanks for Trying

Rich and I have slowly been trying to give the kids little chores to help around the house and to teach them to "earn" some of their treasures from Target. We may need to reassess this plan.

Eli was told to pick up the living room . I was thinking his toys- he was thinking the stacks of freshly folded laundry that were sitting in front of the couch. Apparently picking up meant getting everything off the floor. I can see where he was going with that...

Granada Graduation

Friday was our last day of the 07-08 school year. A very special student of mine graduated. Victoria was in my 6th grade class and for the last two years has been my teacher's aide. She's wonderful and I will miss her next year.

Victoria was one of the student speakers chosen to represent her class- Awesome job!

Father's Day Fun

Rich went to school with Elijah on Friday for the Father's Day Fun Day. They wore matching tie-dyed shirts that Eli made in his class earlier in the week. They played with water balloons, built a house out of blocks, and the kids even "shaved" the dads with shaving cream. Elijah was chosen to read the class a story before lunch. He was so proud to have his dad with him at school, but he wasn't so sure about Rich letting a couple of the other kids sit in his lap- he was suddenly territorial saying ,"...that's my daddy!

On Saturday, we celebrated with my Dad. The whole family went to the Orange County Swap Meet for the afternoon and then Elijah and I made custom pizzas for the family for dinner. Elijah and Sierra sang "Happy Father's Day to you..." before he ate the first bite. It was precious!

Elijah made this gift for Rich. The verse is John 1:4- I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

Sunday was a fun play day at home. Rich gets all of the kids outside toys (pool, slip-n-slide, jeep) and kids just go nuts for the whole afternoon. As I watched the three of them play together, I felt so lucky that my kids have such a GREAT DAD!!!
