It's been about a month gone in blog-ville... and Christmas, New Year's, and all kinds of fun have passed. I'm going to try to play catch up... starting with our December trip to the San Diego Wild Animal Park. This has always been a family fave destination. We lived near the park (in Escondido, CA) as kids, so my parents took us quite a bit. Now it's a place I wanted to share with my lil' ones. I wasn't sure how Eli would respond... he's more of a Lego Land kind of guy, BUT I knew Sierra would be in heaven. She is such an animal lover... To my happy surprise, they were both thrilled to see the animals in more natural enclosures instead of cages like in traditional zoos. Some of the most exciting animals to see were lions, cheetahs, and rhinos... who isn't blown away by a rhino? This was also one of my first opportunities to try out my Christmas camera... share with me(:

~ the kids found a log to climb in along the way... it was a good photo opp.

~ sitting with deer? are you serious? they were so mellow and sweet. again, it was a heaven moment for Sierra

~ not my best shot of the day, but what are seeing is a small pride of lion. the male is on top of the old truck and the two females are laying in the foreground. that was exciting for me to see.

~ we thought the lorikeets would be the high point for Sierra... getting to touch birds and have them land on you freely turned out to be a little traumatic. papa saved the day on that one.
